PepsiCo Testimonial – Synchronization of Merchandising Data

PepsiCo France’s hypermarket and superstore sales staff use the Spaceman (Nielsen) merchandising application combined with MediaContact to synchronize laptops with the central IS.

In November 2009, PepsiCo wanted to supplement its Spaceman (Nielsen) merchandising application with a data synchronization system.

“For a department manager, an outdated store layout plan or missing images for a merchandising plan have zero impact and are completely ineffective. To breathe new life into our merchandising approach, we needed to ensure that the tools our sales staff use in the field are always up to date. With its automation options, flexibility and simple customization, MediaContact suited all of our needs: not only updating images, planograms, and the latest merchandising recommendations, but also securing merchandising data used in the field, said Arnaud Bouveresse – Datawarehouse Project Manager – Sales & Marketing – PepsiCo International.

MediaContact’s features, such as differential synchronization, online compression, tracking, as well as its simple installation and use, were decisive factors in PepsiCo France’s decision to purchase 100 MediaContact licenses in February 2010.

From that point on, sales representatives returning from the field could connect their laptops over ADSL, allowing MediaContact to communicate with the company’s server and automate the data exchange process (shelf inventories, etc.).

This successful deployment in France mirrors the December 2009 success of our Chinese partner, Terra Nova, who provided 2,000 PepsiCo Inc. sales representatives in China with a MediaContact for PDA solution.
