FILE AND FOLDER SYNCHRONIZATION

Unstructured data represents a large volume of information that must be constantly updated, maintained and backed up for all the company’s users, both fixed and mobile.

Synchronize, duplicate and back up files

100% of IT data is stored in files consisting of :

  • structured data as in databases
  • unstructured data such as office application and multimedia files, etc.

The maintenance and backup of unstructured data within a company is highly important.The task is often neglected for remote users. If data is lost, the company is impacted financially.

The above needs are complex tasks to perform, especially if you have several remote locations and multiple mobile users. To backup and maintain this data, you have two possible options :

“Online” mode
In this configuration, data is centrally stored on a server and the user directly accesses his/her company’s information. In this case, the user needs a network connection to work.

“Offline” mode
This mode is required for situation where the application availability rate must be 100% even during network outages. The user can work outside any network coverage on his/her files. Updating information and managing conflicts are the most complexed functions to control. 

Synchronization in uni-directional or bi-directional mode:

With our file synchronization software, you can easily solve this problem. Data is stored and updated at the company’s headquarters. Remote workstations will synchronize these tree structures in uni-directional or bi-directional mode.

Note : to successfully synchronize, the following options are vital :

  • Only synchronize the most recent documents
  • Keep an identical image on each side
  • Only transfer modified files
  • Only transfer modifications within a file ( not the complete file )
  • Compression
  • Logs

This type of synchronization may apply to backing up data on remote workstations. With this type of tool, you can also schedule daily backups with differential synchronization of files and restore them as needed if a workstation crashes.
