Which tablet for my enterprise?

The rise in tablet sales is confirmed by IDC, which expects 87.7 million sales in 2012. This market is dominated by iOS (57.6% market share in Q4 2011 - Source: Strategy Analytic), closely followed by Android, and Windows as an emerging player with the launch of the new version of its operating system. For enterprises, it becomes difficult to make a choice between these three OS, because each one has its own specific features/benefits. Furthermore, information system managers are facing new types of problems: employees using their own personal tablets, and wanting the same conditions of use that they have with company devices in the enterprise (secured access to data, use of business apps...), a phenomenon called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

According to a study published by IDC in 2011, the main concerns for IS managers about the integration of this new tool within companies are:
- Integration of the new mobile OS to the existing infrastructure
- Costs associated in developing new business applications and integration of these applications
Integration of tablets in the company will rely on the results of a study of field workers needs. In 2011, Dekra decided to replace its entire fleet of mobile devices in order to optimize its field technicians’ productivity.

The company’s 1,300 “preventers” (Dekra’s term for inspectors in charge of accident prevention) now use either Motorola MC65 PDAs or tablets as 3G-enabled mobile devices to communicate with the head-office information system. During each site visit, these employees exchange information in order to establish an inspection report. In order to optimize these exchanges of information and manage the mixed fleet of mobile devices operated by Dekra, the IT department wishes to investigate a new tool for managing and synchronizing its devices.

Solution

Dekra Industrial has renewed its confidence in the MediaContact software in order to:

As part of the EPC 2012 event organized by Motorola in Dublin, TELELOGOS presented its MDM solution - MediaContact.

TELELOGOS participated at the event "The Motorola Solutions Executive Partner Conference 2012" and presented its MDM solution - MediaContact.

This event was held at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, 6-8 March 2012.

The event brought together Motorola’s strategic partners from EMEA. Over 300 delegates were at the rendezvous. Managing a variety of mobile devices

In 2011, Dekra decided to replace its entire fleet of mobile devices in response to a market that called for new equipment. The company’s "preventers" (Dekra’s term for inspectors in charge of accident prevention) received either Motorola MC65 PDAs or touch tablets. It was therefore essential that Dekra choose a Mobile Device Management tool that could be used to manage a variety of devices (touch tablets, smartphones, PDAs, rugged terminals, laptops, etc.) and that would support ever-changing operating systems. Bridging the gap between the employee and the company

Dekra’s second goal was to significantly increase the speed of data synchronization between company headquarters and employees in the field. To meet this need, the company chose to move from a GPRS connection to a 3G connection. History :
